Of all the markets we have visited this year, this was perhaps my favorite! We intentionally went on a Friday afternoon to experience the energy of Shabbat preparation. It was packed with people of all ages, rushing to fill their carts with the elements of a delicious Shabbos meal. Sellers of fruits and vegetables banter with one another as the dried fruit and nut sellers tempt you with samples of things you hadn’t realized you needed. Fresh breads and sweets are lined up next to cheese vendors and the meat and fish guys are in the side alleyways. (This is a photo of The Halvah King, we tasted at least half of the bounty of options seen here.) The market was chaotic and fun and we elbowed our way through foraging for our own little Shabbat snacks.
