Yesterday, while at a flea market here in New York I stumbled across the most wonderful food ephemera. These beautifully illustrated paper cutouts of a hearty-looking breakfast were printed (I believe) in San Francisco by Traung Label and Lithography Company in 1920. My best guess is that they were used as some sort of an educational tool, but I haven’t really been able to find any evidence of that. If you have any clue as to the original use of these lovely little works of art, I’d love to know! For now, they’re just here to make me happy … and hopefully provide some inspiration down the road.
