The Market Aesthetic

In general, things at the market take on a very undesigned feel. That’s not to say there isn’t great inspiration there. In addition to the always interesting people, amazing smells and great color and shape in the foods themselves, there are often wonderful typographic visuals as well. I have a lot of personal history with the rustic feel of farm culture — and have fallen in love with the urban interpretation of it. The fundamental humanness of the farm aesthetic posed against the hard edges of the city make for great contrast and remind me a little of my own story…a girl with small-town roots, who sometimes clashes, but hopefully brings a unique perspective to the big city.
